Hey Guys! Lets get back on track with these devotions!

Romans 3

1 What advantage then has the Jew, or what is the profit of circumcision?
2 Much in every way! Chiefly because to them were committed the oracles of God.
3 For what if some did not believe? Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect?
4 Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar. As it is written: “ That You may be justified in Your words, And may overcome when You are judged.”
5 But if our unrighteousness demonstrates the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unjust who inflicts wrath? (I speak as a man.)
6 Certainly not! For then how will God judge the world?
7 For if the truth of God has increased through my lie to His glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner?
8 And why not say, “Let us do evil that good may come”?—as we are slanderously reported and as some affirm that we say. Their condemnation is just.

All Have Sinned
9 What then? Are we better than they? Not at all. For we have previously charged both Jews and Greeks that they are all under sin.
10 As it is written: “ There is none righteous, no, not one;
11 There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God.
12 They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one.”
13 “ Their throat is an open tomb; With their tongues they have practiced deceit”; “ The poison of asps is under their lips”;
14 “ Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.”
15 “ Their feet are swift to shed blood;
16 Destruction and misery are in their ways;
17 And the way of peace they have not known.”
18 “ There is no fear of God before their eyes.”
19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
20 Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

God’s Righteousness Through Faith
21 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets,
22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference;
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed,
26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

Boasting Excluded
27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith.
28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law.
29 Or is He the God of the Jews only? Is He not also the God of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also,
30 since there is one God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith.
31 Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law.

Wow! This is deep, but let me explain what is going on and I think that will help you understand this A LOT MORE!!! Imagine God giving you a list of rules that you must follow to get into heaven... Well, what if you follow those rules "to the letter of the law", never failing, never breaking the rules. You would start to feel pretty good about yourself, Right? Well that is what happened with the jews. Back in the old Testament God gave the jews several laws that they had to live by to prove their faith in God.

Well, many years later, after Christ had come and made it clear that He had died for both the jews and the gentiles (by the way: if you are not jewish then you are a gentile like me) the jews were pretty upset with the gentiles because they were not obeying all of the laws... like circumcision.

Well, the jews started many divisions and issues because they said: The law says that we must be circumcised to be saved, so you must be circumcised to be saved too! But the truth is made evident in this passage...

Following the law makes NO ONE "earn" their way to heaven. Because ALL HAVE SINNED AND FALLEN SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD!!!! Obeying some rules does not make you qualify for Heaven in Gods eyes... instead God makes it clear that whether you are circumcised or uncircumcised, whether you eat pork or not, whether you follow all of the old testament law or not, you can still be saved because salvation is by FAITH!!! Not by works!!!

I am so thankful that I do not have to work my way to heaven... I know that I fail so much that there would probably not be much hope for me! I would not be anywhere near the front of the line... that is for sure.

But God is so great! and So Rich in mercy! God provides salvation to us if we will simply believe in Him. Simply place our faith in him just like we place it is a chair that we sit in it...

If you have not placed your faith in Christ! Do It Today! He makes salvation available to all who will believe in Him!

In one of my classes, there is a poster on the wall, and maybe you've seen it before, that says, "Respect is not a gift. You have to earn it." When I read that, I say to myself, "Salvation is the complete opposite of that statement." There should be a poster that says, "Salvation IS a gift. You CANNOT earn it.

This chapter is mostly about how to get to heaven right? Remember the tower of Babel? Those people thought they could earn their way to heaven, and now, since they made that mistake, I now have to take 2 different language courses in school! I HATE to learn other languages! To bad they wouldn't have thought that way. ):

I am glad that we chose Romans as our bible chapter, this is a really deep story.

For me this can go both ways. I know that sometimes I feel as though I am being very obedient to the Lord and I start to believe that I am better in some ways than people who are sinning boldly. What I realized is that no matter who great or small the sin it is ALL the same under God's eyes. It can be so hard to follow his ways and when you get into a habit of doing so you start to really feel better. What needs to happen is we need to be a light when we start to walk with God.

That is my prayer for all of us, I want to follow the Lord's ways to the best of my ability and when I am doing so I want to be a light rather than a follower of darkness. I do not want to judge others but rather reflect on myself. I was reading my other devotions today and it was talking about how when we get angry and judge others it is often because we need to let the Lord check us.

I want to give my whole heart to the Lord and follow him, taking his salvation as a gift and not trying to understand it for what it isn't.

:[ I am really sad that I didn't get to go to church on Sunday. However, I AM going to fall retreat with Campus Crusade for Christ and for anyone that is going to a non-christian university it is a GREAT thing to get involved with. I will be sure to tell you all how it went. Anyways, have a nice day everyone. I am off to my senate meeting.

10 As it is written: “ There is none righteous, no, not one; --- i love this verse cause i know a lot of people who think they are very full of themselves and think they are the most hottest thing to ever roam the earth! and I can use this verse to explain to them that none of us are righteous not even the most richest people in the world.

23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,---- This verse too. I can explain this to people whenever i am witnessing to them to explain how every one has sinned and everyone is going to keep on sinning.

Sometimes with people they dont want to hear these two verses because they know that they are full of it, and need to get over themselves but they dont want to. They are so selfish in themselves that they dont even want to hear the Word of God spoken! WOW!

i like this passage because its is straight-up truth. for ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of god.

There is NONE righteous, NO NOT ONE!

this passage is telling us that unless you have NEVER sinned you are a hell-bound sinner.

it says that there is no-one righteous, that means that their is no living soul that has never sinned. every one has atleast sinned 1 time. and that 1 sin has made you un perfect which lowers you below gos perfect standard.

now, to get right with god. we need to A B C.

A.dmit
B.elieve
C.onfess

this is gods plan of salvation.

in order to get to heaven. you have to repent of your wrong doings and believe that god sent his son jesus to die on the cross for YOU!!

PEACE

P.S. I BENCH PRESSED 200 lbs. today before football practice!!!!

Wow I love this passage!!!!!!!!! It says how you can NOT work your way to heaven. Before I started reading this I saw that right before verse 9 it says all have sinned. I thought to myself that for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Without looking I tried to remember what verse that was. ROMANS 3:23!!! At my old church I used to go to something called AWANA and i remembered that verse and memorized it. That verse is what stuck out to me the most it means that everyone in this world has sinned and we fall short of Gods glory because He is so perfect and we are the opposite. Thats why we need Him to get us to heaven. Im really glad we chose Romans I think people will be able to understand this better than the other books we have done in the past! Pastor Lee have you found your camera yet??? I want those pictures from disney!!! bye for now everyone!!!

I think so many people dwell on this meaning they think that theres certain things you need to get to heaven and theres a lot of cults like that like that you have cut your hair a certain way or wear a certain type of shoes and poop like that and we need to get through to people that its by faith and not by works.

I HATE SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!!

im with you Jon,
i am SO tired, thanks to school work.
So this will probably be short and boring, sorry.
D:

So here is a reminder of just what salvation is.
In verse 10 it says that no one is righteous, none are worthy, and no one can save themselves.
No one can be perfect enough to escape hell without salvation, and the only way to recieve that salvation is through faith in Jesus.
Verses 24 through 26 are the highlight for me.
I am reminded that salvation is simple but great and the best thing since even BEFORE sliced bread.
How great is that?
