Tonight is youth group! Make sure you are there. We need to have AT LEAST 40 people, but lets try for 50, so call up some friends and bring them with you!
A Few Thoughts From Yesterday:
McCue: I am so glad that you got that cool phone that you can do your devotions with!! Awesome!
Jeff: Great job on the devos! VERY THOROUGH!
Jonathan: Very good job, but... what is up with saying: Hey my sons dying (lol)? what is funny about that? You are crazy!
Lucy: Hey Homie! Are you coming tonight? :)
Ryuzaki: That is the best part of the pit! It is so cool to get your adrenaline going as you run back and forth between the gong, the cymbals, both CRASH and suspended, and many other little gadgets! I think you will enjoy it more than you think!
Jessica: So you are getting that car? AWESOME! Congratulatoins!
John 5:1-15
1 After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
2 Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda, having five porches.
3 In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water.
4 For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had.
5 Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years.
6 When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”
7 The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”
8 Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.”
9 And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the Sabbath.
10 The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.”
11 He answered them, “He who made me well said to me, ‘Take up your bed and walk.’”
12 Then they asked him, “Who is the Man who said to you, ‘Take up your bed and walk’?”
13 But the one who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a multitude being in that place.
14 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.”
15 The man departed and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.
This story seems very humorous: There is this pool of water that supposedly heals people when they walk into it, but it only heals one person, and only whenever an angel comes and stirs the water.
So imagine the scene here: there are lame people, blind people, cripple people, deaf people, and many other people with their own need for healing. They are all lounging around this pool waiting... ... waiting for the water to move, so that the deaf people can very quietly try to sneak past the blind people, who are feeling all around trying to guess which direction the pool is. The blind people are tripping over the cripple people and some guy with leprosy is sitting there watching it all. Can you imagine the picture here? I think it would be such an icredible picture of so many people, living an absolutely HORRIBLE life waiting to be healed.
The irony comes in when you add in the fact that these people thought that water would save them, when their creator and healer was standing there right beside them.
This reminds me of our world today. There are so many people living horrible lives, they are miserable, living in there sin, living with their problems, many of them not even wanting to live anymore.
These people are trying to find healing in the things of this world: money, toys, sports, bars, and much more, but the only true source of healing that can be found is though Jesus Christ.
As you walk through the halls at school, or the mall, or through your neighborhood, try to see lost people just like these lame, cripple, deaf, and blind people at the pool of Bethesda SEARCHING for healing!! And we know the answer, the healer, that will give them life and life more abundant! Jesus Christ!

Not at lot of time this morning anyway so pastor lee finds humor in a bunch of gimps looking to be healed I guess lol so I think its cool here and for us all to remember that we have been healed im sure everybody has been through a period of grief or guilt and it would do us well to remember that jesus says do not sin again lest you get in more trouble
okay two things came to my mind while reading this. the first thing was that when i read about the pool that heals people it reminded me of the whole fountain of youth thing only it would probably be called something like the fountain of helth or something.and the other was a simple thought of wow!what i mean is all these people are coming out and just waiting to be healed by a pool of water when all of a sudden jesus walks up and tels the man he is healed and the guy is probably thinking wow i waited alll this time when all i had to believe and put my problems in gods hands!so noe this guy can walk and goes into the town and starts to tell all the people about what happend!
In this pasage, i think of how Jesus was this perfectly flawless guy, surrounded by a mass of imperfect people.
As Christians, having Christ in us and being saved, He should be shown through us, and we should consider ourselves somewhat in this situation in the sense that even though we are imperfect as well, we are healed of our sins and we should want others to be as well.
To apply; we should step out into a totally amiss world everyday with intentions to lead others to healing (salvation) like depicted (in my -probably way off- thinking anyways :P) here.
later tater ;D
i have a question...they had pools in that time¿?¿
anyway, this story is pretty amazing! it's amazing how all these people want to be healed by a pool of water and it's strange how people believe the guy! oh wait i forgot they didn't have doctors! it's kinda like the story yesterday how the man just has so much faith in god!!
and yeah I'm coming tonight pastor Lee=]
This is pretty cool...question tho...how would the def ppl know about the pool when they can't hear any1 tell them anythin???
anyways!I can TOTALLY relate that situation 2 present day...we're all roamin around tryin 2 find sumthin 2 heal us...some resort 2 drugs, alcohol, forication, etc...
They go 2 all the wrong things when the ONLY thing that can save/heal them is Christ & Christ alone...All we gotta do is BELIEVE, & that's not hard 2 do...
We gotta quit...lost train of thought...hold on...we gotta quit believeing that artificial things can solve our problems...Some ppl resort 2 what i mentioned above, some create their own "religion"...
Yeah doctors can TEMP heal us...but they cant save us in the way CHRIST can...We need 2 spread the word so ppl don't repeat what the ppl in this passage did...believeing a POOL can heal them...
We need 2 heal our SOULS & accept CHRIST 4 he's the only 1 who can TRULY save us!
SAVE UR SOUL, & Christ'll help u w/what u need...HAVE FAITH...c ya 2night y'all...YEE-HAAAWWWWW!!!-lol-
LATER TATER
this is saying that at this pool once and a while an angle would stir it and one person could get in it and be healed from their sickness. well there was one cripple man who couldn't get to the pool because he was, well.......cripple. so Jesus asked him why he wasnt't going to the pool and the man said everytime i get close to it someone just walkes by me and goes in the pool so Jesus said to him pick up your bed and walk and he did. he was so astonished and excited that he went to his friends and told them what happened and that Jesus did that for him. that is so incredible again that Jesus just SPOKE it and the man could walk. so we just need to believe in Jesus and He will do what He wants for us in our lives.
oh ya and pastor lee sorry i didn't do my devos. last night, i was studying for my exams last night and taking notes because we could us a card on our exams and our friends we over until 8 so i couldn't start studying until then, but i did my devos. for yesterday today so i still did them.
McCUE IF YOU SEE THIS YOU NEED TO CALL ME!!!
You were right Pastor Lee I love this part of the pit especially when the horns play a cool latio tune followed by a gigantic BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!! by my bass drum.
So there's a pool that once stirred by an angel will cure the first person to step foot in it of what ever diseases plague them. When Jesus walks by he sees this old man who is too slow to get into the water. He asks the man about his problem and then tells him to walk away with his bed. And instantly this man picks up his bed and walks away in tip top shape. The day this happened was the day of no work the sabbath and others asked why are you doing this and the man said the one who healed me told me to. The others were like who? By that time Jesus had already left but later at the temple Jesus returned to the man and told him not to sin or a far worse fate will befall him. After that the man left to tell people that the one who healed him was Jesus. You don't need to wait for something to happen when you can pray to God and ask Him to heal you.
P.S. sorry I missed out today I'll be there next week.
hi my name is drake im 11 and im doing the devotions ok aka joshes brother alright i think that jesus died on the cross for our sins so he lived a perfcet life until he paied for our sins bye love drake
Ok people how are u guys well acually i dont know why im asking this ur not gonna answer me anyways to not be jumbled in this mess got to get to the devos ha ha ha ha ha im funny!!!
Ok so theres this pool and everyone sits in it and they wait for some angel thats not real(thanks for help on that Pastor Lee)and its like a false religion then Jesus comes along with the strength to carry on ohh sry thats a song you know when a hero comes along with the strentgh to carry on and you cast your fears aside when you know you cant survive ha ha ha ha im funny anyways Jesus comes along and he tells the man to get up and walk and when he did he was healed and i think its AMAZING the faith this guy had he was willing to do anything to be healed even to beleve in something he typically doesnt beleve in and its something we should do. if we listen to Jesus and do what he says we will live good and if we dont have faith well then we are in BIG DOO DOO and i think that this is a funny story because think about its like you guys coming over to my house and were sick and we sit in my pool for 38 years and my dad comes out and says what are you guys waiting for? ohh were waiting to be healed. by what? and by the way that pool thing was Josh Lapperies idea ha ha ha lol jk!!!!!
P.S.See all of you guys sunday be there or be square.muh ha ha ha!!!(scary laugh)lol
I MIGHT be getting my car IDK yet? Let's hope so....
I see in these passages that not only was Christ a miraculous healer, but because we are saved and have Christ living in us, we can show that to others.
Now come on we all as teenagers can't honestly say that everyday we see a kid walking around our school halls with leprosy (it was more common back in BC and AD) but we do walk through our halls and see kids just like us, with pain, sorrow, loneliness, hurt, bitterness, anger, and so much more that they need healing from. We can be the light in the darkness!
Sometimes I feel the same way in my life down in my soul that this man experienced in his body. I have tried to change, just as this man had tried to get in the pool. Like he was, I am completely helpless to change myself. But becuse of the power of Jesus Christ we can be renewed because of our "faith" like we talked about in previous passages in the God who makes all things new through HIM.
Let's make a difference guys, but lets start today!
signing off.....
ME!!!!
Allllright, tonights message was great! I realized that I can't give 100% of my life to God if 99% of it is spent on MySpace. So, I deleted it, (: Now that I did that, I feel better. I can't explain how that would make me feel better so don't ask why, I just do. Ok, so this is kind of a message to everyone: if you feel that something is holding you back from getting closer with God, get rid of it! Nothing is more important then your relationship with God. (:
Ok, devos.
In a weird way, this reminds me of myself. I was crippled (lost) and I was looking for something/someone to make me healed (happy). Little did I know that God was right in front of my face! So now that I am healed (saved), I need to tell people about it. I need to give my testimony and witness to others.
I agree with pastor lee that it is really funny that these people are sitting there waitin to be healed when the whole time jesus could have done it if they had just realized who he was. People today try and fill there lives with things to make them happy but many of them if they are being honest don't fell slightly happy. This is because they are missin having jesus because he is the only one that can fufill our happiness.
well im not sure but i guess there was water that an angel stirred and when ever some one walked into it they would get healed of there sickness. I think this is saying that the water didn't heal them it was believing in Jesus to heal them and it was him not the water. This one confused me but I tried my best pastor lee.
you said that this is like our world and it is. Just like what pastor chip says that when people are in trouble they always pray to God and when nothing is wrong we don't even acknowledge him at all. We should be with him all the time not just when were scared!
The water is like Jesus He is the only way to healing and goodness. As long as we come to Him we have healing a goodness. this story is soo thought provoking. As i look around aat people out in public i think about their faith and if they belive in Jesus. i look at how they act. they other thing is i know that they are looking at how i act also.
The lost are searching for that one thing to fill the void, the thing that will make them happy and bring them healing and joy. We as Christians know that the Holy Spirit fills this void, heals, and provides happiness for us. Lost people see us, know there is no void in our hearts, and wonder what it is. They search and search and try everything they can, but without Jesus Christ they can do nothing. We as Christians need to show them Jesus through our lives.
