Let me just say that sometimes God really works in mysterious ways. There are sometimes when a preacher has something on his heart to speak about, but after he preaches it he is really not sure that he shared it the way that he wanted to. Well that was me last night. I did not feel that I conveyed the message as clearly as I would have liked to, but like I said God works in mysterious ways. I think the response to the message last night was amazing! I know that God wants to do something AMAZING in our youth group, and seeing your faithfulness and passion on this blog is something that reminds me of that everyday.

Just as I said tonight: God wants to do something amazing with Suncoast Youth Group. I think that the youth group that we have rising up right now will be the greatest group of teenagers to come through this church that we have ever seen. It THRILLS my heart to think of the potential that each of you have in this life, if you simply sell out to Christ.

Many Thoughts from Yesterday:
Kacey: Can I just say... I am so thankful for you, and I am so impressed by your sacrifice. I know that doing something like "canceling your myspace" is not a small sacrifice for a teenager, and I want you to know that I am SO proud of you. I love to read your devotions! And I have missed you on here very much! I am glad you are back! Thanks for being such an encouragement!
McCue: Hey man, if you were at church tonight then you would have received two prizes for being first to post your devotions two days this week. Great job! It is SO COOL that you are so faithful even when it is hard to be faithful to something like this! Thanks man! By the way: Call Alex! :)
Lucy: Thanks for being faithful! I hope you know that I was only kidding with you last night about the couch... you looked at me like I was the meanest guy on the planet, so I a sorry! I probably shouldnt have made a silly comment like that! I am very glad you were at church!
Alex: I Told You that you would love playing the random pit instruments!!! It is much more fun than the zylaphone! (sp?!?!) We missed you last night! It was lots of fun! I hope you start coming to church again soon! :)
Drake: Great Job man! Do these Devos EVRYDAY! and Tell your brother to as well!!!
Jessica M: Great application. I like the way that you explained we often try to fix things ourself to no avail! Just like the cripple man. Good Job!

John 5:16-29
16 For this reason the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to kill Him, because He had done these things on the Sabbath.
17 But Jesus answered them, “My Father has been working until now, and I have been working.”
18 Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God.
19 Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.
20 For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel.
21 For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will.
22 For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son,
23 that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.

24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.
25 Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live.
26 For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself,
27 and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man.
28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice
29 and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.
30 I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.

There is a whole lot in this passage, so I challenge you to just pick something that means something to you and talk about that. I will pick two things that jumped out at me.

1. The passage starts out with the pharisees trying to kill Jesus. Remember, Jesus has basically just come on the scene and mankind already wants to kill Him. Why did they want to kill Him? Because apparently, He was breaking all the rules.

The truth is that Christ wanted them to know, that yes there were rules, but the rules were created to simply guide people into a relationship with the ruler. There are many people even today that try to make of their own rules. They try to tell you that if you do not listen to their kind of music, or worship the same way that they worship, or some that even say you must wear the same kind of clothes that they do if you want to be right with God.

I am so thankful that our church does not struggle with that. My Christianity is not about rules, but it is about relationship. When I have established a relationship then I dont have to be beat over the head with a rule book. I simply follow the rules when there is a relationship, because I want to please my savior!

2. Verses 24-30 explain that if we are in that "relationship" with Christ, then we are saved. (by believing in His death burial and resurrection) and we can count the days until he returns to take us home!! Boy am I excited! I would love for Him to come tomorrow!!!! Would you?

SORRY THIS IS SO LONG TODAY!!! I will try to keep it shorter in the future.

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. that is the verse that stuck out to me.it talks about how by believing in the father and the son and hearing the word you shall have everlasting life.but i guess that hearing the word and applying it your life. womt that be amazing!!!!!!!!! to have everlasting life just by believing in god and takeing his word to heart and shareing it with other people. the other thing that poed out about this verse is it reminds my of one of my favorite verses john 3:16.

by the way alex doesnt have band camp next week so i dont have leave early!!!!!YEAH!!!!!

So we finally had another regiment bible study we had about 8 people and we were reading out of colossians. Im excited to be a part of that. So anyway about rules so this morning in colossians there was a passage that talked about god giving his son up so we wouldn't have to follow most of the minute details of the old testament. I think its so cool that because god sent his son its all about us and him rather than not eating buttered bread in a warehouse passed son down on every tuesday and thursday at the first week in march every 4th year. I miss you all ill call alex soon

Man this is early4 me!!! *yawns&stretches*

so let's see *squints eyes*

All they wanna do is basically KILL Jesus & he's basically telling them WHO he is & WHY he is who he is & they just won't listen...They're TOO focused on wanting 2 kill him...

27]&has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man.

Christ has the right 2 judge ppl cuz he's Christ right? well than y r the ppl who want 2 kill him judging Christ...They should know God/Messiah are the only 1's who can judge & bring about the death/end of some1...

weather they believe he's the Son of God or NOT, they shouldn't be tryin 2 kill him based on how THEY precieve Him...Just my thought...

Finally, it's summer! I'm so glad it's over! I know I got A's on 3 of my exams, but I haven't found out about the other 3.

The thing that sticks out to me is: 'Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live.' I think that is talking about the rapture. Now, when I was little, the thought of a bunch of people disappearing scared me! And I always thought that there were going to be so many people that were going to be raptured up, that God would forget me. And that movie Left Behind didn't help my emotions. It sounds pathetic now, but I was terrified. Now that I'm older, I know that God is not going to forget me, (:

We don't know when the rapture will happen. It could happen before I finish this. But we need to be ready for it. So at all times, we should be right with God. We should strive to be like Jesus. We should confess our sins, and don't do them agian. We should live each moment like God is right next to us. When the rapture happens, I don't want to be caught doing something I should be doing. I want to be ready. I think you should want to be ready also, (:

My devos always turn out to be lectures to me and everyone else. Sorry.

HEYYYY!! Schoool is overrrrr =]]
p.s. i made up wednesdays today at work n ahhh Pastoral Unit Leonard im getting a laptop so i can do my devotions for my birthday and it wont be slowww yay!!

The thing that jumped out to me in this pasage was the fact that the pharisees got so caught up in the sabbath thing that they didnt even realize what was important..Jesus!! How more obvious does it need to get that this is one important dude? I think this is like many people today who get so caought up in the religious part of church and are so busy criticizing others that they miss out on blessings from God.

HADOKEN!!! said...

Lets see when did my sister do her devos... ah 8. Well, I gonna make sure i beat her from now on :)

basicaly in this passage these people want to kill Christ because He worked on the Sabbath and equaled Himself to God. Then he tells them I am the Son of God and is to be honored just as you honor God because only when you accept the Son will you have everlasting life. We must Honor and glorify Jesus Christ to build a relationship with Him.

Also it is spelled Xylophone :D

Ok so these Jews are telling Jesus that hes bad and they want to kill him because he his working on the sabbath but isnt walking and talking and thinking work i mean its a stupid thing that they made up man there dumb but anyways Jesus says me father works on the sabbath and so do i so what now bucket heads.

Tylermon33 said...

this is saying that after Jesus healed the lame man the pharisees wanted to kill Him because He did something during the Sabbath when you are suppose to rest. then they really want to kill Him because He said He was equal with God which is like the worst thing you could say back then. so if you are being persecuted never back down or turn away from the truth especially when it is God we are talking about. it is very hard these days to stop standing up for what we believe when we are being persecuted but we need to stand up to them when we are talking about God.

i do think god works in mysterious ways. i liked your message yesterday pastor lee. ok i think that the Jews wanted to kill Jesus because he was the son of God and did these things on the sabath. ohh and i would love for Jesus to come back tommorrow. i would like to grow up more and tell more people about him but if its his will then it would be fine to me. :]

HOW DO YOU SPELL......SUMMER????
hahahahahahaha whooo hooo!!!!!!!

It certaintly is about our relationship not our rules! Isn't that great that it is that way! And it is true as well with that we don't know when Christ is returning so e need to be ready for HIM. I don't know what it was about this passage but I couldn't really think of anything to comment on!!

OK READY PASTOR LEE? DRUM ROLL PLEASE DADADADADADADADA.....Good night, sleep tight and pleasant dreams to you
Here's a wish and prayer that every dream comes true
And though it's always sweet sorrow to part
I know you'll always remain in my heart

Good night, sleep tight and pleasant dreams to you
Here's a wish and a prayer that every dream comes true
And now 'til we meet again

Adios, au revior, auf weidersehen.....Good Night!

wow...... I should probably be in bed right now but yeah i meant to them them yesterday but my mom said to get a shower..... can you believe that she said I couldn't do my devosssss but I HAD to get a shower

Well, a verse or two really stick out to me. They're around 28 or so and I think these verses are saying that the rapture is on the horizon and that he is going to send those who have "done good" or those who have been saved to the "resurrection of life" or to live in heaven forever. It also says that He will condemn all the unsaved people to hell and they will spend eternity there.

Everyone check can you fit at least two fingers in between the indentation I made? If not, alert me please. My number is (941)-628-6592 and please text me if you can or send me a voicemail.

:/
i didnt feel good at all yesterday.
KAY THANKSSSS

i always make it up anyways soo,
yeah.

Well anywayssss
I think the first thing i noticed here was how wrapped up people were in the rules that they couldnt realize that the "work" Jesus was going was good!
People are usuallyresistant to rules unless they are for their favor, and here is a good example of it.
These people were over analyzing the rules to a point where they made little sense. i think They knew that Jesus was doing nothing wrong but were rejecting how right He realy was.
We should do just the opposite of that; not only accept how right He is, but use it as an example of how we should be.

To me this is a lot so I just look at the part when its talking about the father giving life and the son too. This is saying to me that just as God gave life to Jesus he gives life to. To me this also means that Jesus is our father and us being his child he gives everlasting life but we can too through him by saving others and showing his word. Just as God passes things to his son Jesus passes things to us and we need to pass it on to others.

this is kinda deep for today (for me). i tried to understand it but its getting confusing.

I think the Jews wanted to kill Jesus because they were intimidated. They established all these rules and this man, Jesus, waltzes into town and breaks them. Not only that but He claims to be God's son, making Him equal with God. I think this made the Jews mad and they wanted to restore order within their rules, by eliminating Jesus.

Being a Christian is about a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and not about the traditions of the church.
