Proverbs 9:1-9
Pastor Lee:
Wow, This is the exact passage I needed today. God sure does give you what you need. I have a little situation that I wont explain you can just pray for me about it, but it has to do with verses 7 and 8. These verses make it clear that it is a waste of time to try to reprove a fool. That basically means that a fool is right in his own eyes, no matter what you tell him!
We must take note of this verse, and remind ourselves not to be this fool. When someone comes to us, to correct us, we need to be wise and open to receive the instruction that they give.
For example, in my job, I have many people around me that have lots of wisdom, I want to be the kind of person that loves correction, because when am corrected then I know I am getting more and more correct! (When someone shows me what I need to change to be more like Christ, then if I receive it, I become more and more like Christ). I want to be a person without pride, a person that simply wants Gods best whether it puts me at the top or at the bottom.
Lord, Thanks for this passage at the perfect timing!
1 Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:
2 She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.
3 She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,
4 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
5 Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.
6 Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.
7 He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.
8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.
9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

you know what pastor lee said kinda reminds me of a verse Proverbs 12:1 in the New King James version which states whoever loves instruction loves knowledge, But he who hates correction is STUPID. so that means any of you out there who don't like to be corrected the bible just called you stupid HA.
Anyways as for what the passage says as you can see in verse 1 it is personifying wisdom. We see how she has set her house and has sent her maidens to call people unto her. So pretty much wisdom is calling and we need to go to her. Then it tells how the people who want more understanding, which could also mean the people who want more wisdom or even knowledge, may have all that widom has to offer. After this we go on to learn that we should just forget about the foolish people. That doesn't mean someone that doesn't know much or people that aren't saved. All it simply means is the people that are stubborn and will only say no to more knowledge and understanding. Verse 8 pretty much says that if we try to prove someone wrong that will just do nothing but ridicule, mock, and disrespect people he'll just hate you, but if we were to do the same thing to someone thats wise he'll propably thank you for it.
Well thats all i have to say and man this is propably the longest devotion i have ever done thus far. This is Josh LaPerriere A.K.A. Kyeduto just in case you didn't already know.
I love Proverbs. Proverbs to me is like an instruction booklet for one day and the Bible for a lifetime. In verse 8 it says that if we try to prove someone the wrong way that we will just do nothing but make them feel bad, and not respect them he will just not like you, but if we were to do the same exact thing to someone that is thinking the way God thinks he will propably thank you for that. Everyday I just have to say this... This is a great passage!!
